To all the Barclay’s many friends and family:
I hope this letter finds you, your families and your friends safe and well. We are all learning how to adapt to new ways of living our lives – with all the pluses and minuses we’re together discovering that implies.
Each day we see Orange County businesses re-opening, not without some challenges, but still working to bring back our community’s vibrant civic life. It’s still not clear, though, when performing art centers will be allowed to open or what that experience looks like once they do. While we’re waiting, the Barclay staff and I are exploring as many different new performance scenarios as we can.
Thanks to all of you who took time to complete our re-opening survey. We’re grateful for your help. The insights you shared told us a lot about how we should be thinking about the Barclay experience so you feel safe and comfortable returning when authorities allow us to invite you back.
Based on your feedback we’re looking at how we might refine our ticketing and seating processes, day-of-show procedures, custodial services, facility upgrades - even how we schedule ourselves. We are also talking with performers to figure out how performances might best be set up and what they look like with social distancing. While we don’t have answers on all the specific changes that might eventually take place, these are the sorts of things at the top of our lists to solve. I look forward to talking with you again soon about how our thinking and planning is progressing.
I’m looking forward to a time when I can announce an opening date, announce a slate of world-class performers that are the hallmark of the Barclay’s programming and share specifics about how a new night out at the Barclay will look and feel.
Thank you for being a part of the Barclay family. We appreciate and are thankful for your support and your interest in our “jewel box.” On behalf of the Board of Directors and all the staff, I’ll close by saying we are so very much looking forward to the time we’ll be able to see you again at the theater.
