Ragaspirit is Ektaa’s offering of the best of classical music of India to the SoCal audiences. Starting as a festival in 2012, five iterations of the event have showcased both local and renowned legends of Hindustani and Carnatic music.
Anup Jalota is one of India's most prolific vocalists. Equally skilled at singing bhajans, ghazals and classical music, Jalota was awarded the "Padma Shri" in 2012, one of the highest civilian national awards. Taking an ethnomusicologist's approach to preserving India's traditional music, he has released two extensive collections of music in the Sanskrit language. Popularly known as Bhajan Samrat ("Emperor of Bhajans"), some of his hits include "Aisi Lagi Lagan," "Rang De Chunariya," and "Maiya Mori Mein Nahin Makhan Khayo."
India’s global music ambassador, Santoor Maestro Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya is a pioneering and revolutionary classical musician. He is one of the most celebrated torch bearers of Indian classical music, and has traversed the globe performing in various awe-inspiring venues around the world, such as the Royal Albert Hall, Apollo Theatre (Spain), and the Jubilee Auditorium (Canada).
Tabla maestro Pt. Abhijit Banerjee, who tours extensively all over the world with his Tarang ensemble, is known for his focus on Indian percussion (tabla, ghatam and morsing), interweaving a dazzling array of rhythmic structures with melodies derived from Indian classical music.
