Celebrating 40 years of artistic excellence, Southland Ballet Academy was founded by Salwa Rizkalla in 1983 and upholds the highest standard of artistic excellence in ballet training based on the Vaganova method of classical ballet. In a caring, encouraging environment, students learn the art of dance; they grow in confidence, concentration, memorization, coordination, self-motivation and artistic appreciation of dance. Southland Ballet Academy is the official school of Orange County's award-winning ballet company, Festival Ballet Theatre. Arts Orange County named FBT Outstanding Arts Organization of the Year in 2001 and in 2014 recognized Artistic Director Salwa Rizkalla with the Helena Modjeska Cultural Legacy Award.

The Grand Defilé is a celebration of the end of the year studies and an opportunity for the students to shine on the stage and enjoy performing for family and friends. Thank you for joining us in celebrating these young budding artists and the future and protégés of ballet.
