Irvine Barclay Theatre Jazz Band featuring the Ron Kobayashi Trio

Friday, July 16, 2021 at 6pm at Mike Ward Community Park

The Irvine Barclay Theatre Jazz Band (IBTJB) is an ensemble comprised of the most familiar names in the Orange County jazz community. Powered by the Ron Kobayashi Trio, the IBTJB features Jerry Mandel on tenor saxophone, Craig Springer on tenor and soprano saxes, and Tom Bevan on guitar.

Ron Kobayashi (keyboards), Baba Elefante (bass), and Steve Dixon (drums) have been performing together for more than 25 years. The Trio was voted Best Jazz Group in Orange County by readers of the OC Weekly and was nominated for Best Jazz Group in Orange County by the Orange County Music Awards. Tom Bevan is a multi-talented guitarist – a renowned studio player who also toured and recorded with Maynard Ferguson – who is often recognized with “Best Jazz Guitarist in Orange County” honors. Craig Springer is currently Executive Vice President of Irvine Barclay Theatre. Jerry Mandel is Chairman and President of Irvine Barclay Theatre and Vice Chancellor Emeritus at UCI. He was previously President of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. A long-time champion of jazz in Orange County, Jerry’s passion for playing familiar tunes from the Great American Songbook has made him a community favorite wherever and whenever he performs.
