110 Middle School Students from Amino James B Taylor Charter Middle School visited the Barclay as part of visit to the University of California, Irvine. These 7th Graders are exposed to the University environment at a young age to inspire their ambitions as they progress to High School.
After a welcome from Catherine Dickinson, Community Outreach Coordinator at the Barclay, the students were given a talk in the theater by Keith Bangs, Production Manager and Technical Director at the UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts. He talked about his job, the next production of the musical ‘Company’ (that he is about to build the set for on the Barclay stage) and his former career creating sets in the film and TV industry. The students were excited to hear that he had worked on the Batman films.
The students asked some great questions including: ‘How did you get interested in theater?’ and what’s your favorite show you have worked on?’. In reply to ‘What is the greatest thing about your job?’ Keith said ‘The fact that I am always working on something different, every day.’
