NCI DISCOVERY 2024 - 20TH ANNIVERSARY

National Choreographers Initiative is celebrating its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of innovation in dance creation.

Be there for the birth of four new ballets created as part of the intensive 3-week process of National Choreographers Initiative. Artistic Director Molly Lynch invites four choreographers, as well as 16 professional dancers from ballet companies across the country, to participate. The project culminates in a public performance that showcases the excitement of new creation.

Many of you are familiar with NCI Discovery, but are you aware of the significant achievements made over the past 19 years? Founded by Molly Lynch in 2004, National Choreographers Initiative is a Southern California project with national influence. It has seen 76 choreographers, with a noteworthy 31 being women, along with 169 dancers hailing from 54 national dance companies. Impressively, 33 of the pieces born from this program have been premiered and performed by major dance companies.

Celebrate National Choreographer Initiative's 20th anniversary with a champagne toast at intermission in the lobby, sponsored by Irvine Barclay Theatre. The Barclay has been a proud partner of NCI and its mission to support and nurture the process of developing new choreography for the past twenty years.
