IGNITE DANCE 

After a sold-out debut during Irvine Barclay Theatre’s 35th anniversary season, Ignite Dance returns for its second electrifying presentation—once again bringing together a dynamic lineup of Southern California’s most compelling dance artists for a one-night-only celebration of movement.

Carefully curated to reflect the depth and breadth of the dance art form, the evening showcases a rich spectrum of styles and perspectives. From the storytelling power of contemporary ballet to the rhythmic fire of flamenco and the bold experimentation of modern and immersive dance, Ignite Dance offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience multiple traditions, aesthetics, and creative voices on a single stage.

This year’s program features performances by five innovative companies whose work spans disciplines, cultures, and artistic approaches:

•    INTUITV ARTSHIP

A boundary-breaking ballet company founded by choreographers Tara Ghassemieh and Vitor Luiz that merges classical technique with cinematic storytelling and contemporary cultural narratives.

•    Re:borN Dance Interactive
Nightfall (2026)
The professional contemporary ensemble of Reborn Arts, led by Boróka Nagy, known for immersive works that blur the line between performer and audience while exploring themes of identity, community, and collective resilience.

•    Outrun The Bear
Palace (world premiere)
The choreographic partnership of Megan Doheny and Ilya Nikurov, whose physically powerful and emotionally detailed work draws on their backgrounds with Israel’s Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company.

•    CAMINOS FLAMENCOS
Luna Llena (2026)
Led by Emmy Award–winning flamenco master Yaelisa and guitarist Jason McGuire, presenting a new work titled Luna Llena. Yaelisa formerly co-directed the Barclay’s renowned New World Flamenco Festival, returning to a stage where flamenco history was made.

•    Pointeworks
Chasing Shadows (2025)
A forward-thinking ballet company founded by Sophie Williams that champions new choreography, live music collaboration, and expanded opportunities for dancers and underrepresented creative voices.

Following the performance, the celebration continues in the Irvine Barclay Theatre lobby with an after-party featuring a DJ, light refreshments, and the opportunity to mingle with the dancers and creative teams. 

This concert is part of Community Connections , a new series from Irvine Barclay Theatre spotlighting the extraordinary talent of artists from our own backyard. Designed to celebrate the creative voices shaping Southern California, this series features vibrant and artist-driven performances. With Community Connections , the Barclay continues its commitment to presenting diverse and exceptional artists while expanding access to the performing arts throughout Orange County—because great art begins at home.
