FRI OCT 4, 2024 AT 8PM

“Virtuosic keepers of a cultural flame...Bringing, folklore & cultural memory into a performance that unfolded as breezy entertainment.” — The New York Times

Masters of Hawaiian Music showcases a remarkable synthesis of musicians, who all pay tribute to Hawai‘i’s musical heritage and spread true “Aloha” to all.

Hawai‘i’s Renaissance man, George Kahumoku Jr., is a master slack key guitarist, a 4-time Grammy Award winner, accomplished songwriter, and world-traveling performer. Using his melodic style, inventiveness and versatility, Kahumoku conveys the genuine spirit of Hawai‘i to all his listeners.

Led Kaapana is a musical legend who has been thrilling audiences for more than 40 years. His mastery of stringed instruments, exceptional skill on the slack key guitar and ukulele, and his extraordinary baritone to leo ki‘eki‘e (falsetto) vocal range, have earned him multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.

With 15 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, including 4 for Best Slack Key Guitar, virtuoso Jeff Peterson is a star of the current generation of slack key players, who uses the style’s open tunings to explore multiple genres with ease and flair. Five of Jeff's songs are featured in the award-winning George Clooney film The Descendants.
