Irvine Barclay Theatre is recognized as one of Orange County CA's premiere cultural organizations and facilities. It is a 501(c)3 organization with a Board of Directors numbering 26 including representatives from its public partners, the City of Irvine and the University of California, Irvine.

The Barclay serves several equally important functions: it is a leading professional presenter of diverse international talent ranging from contemporary dance to cirque; it provides facilities and services on a rental basis to dozens of community cultural organizations; it advances the educational objectives of UCI in a variety of ways including use of the theatre's facilities by various departments and programs.

  • Lighting Supervisor


    Irvine Barclay Theatre, Irvine CA

    Part-time, hourly; $20.30 per hour

    Under general supervision of the Irvine Barclay Theatre Production Manager, the Lighting Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of professional technicians in providing stage and backstage technical support (especially in theatrical stage lighting and design) for professional guest artist performances and amateur licensee events occurring at Irvine Barclay Theatre and is responsible for the proper installation, maintenance, inventory and safe operation of all theatrical lighting system equipment. Supervises lighting related staff and assists with load in and strike of all performances; advances lighting needs for upcoming shows; leads in hanging and focusing the event lighting design; enters lighting cues into lighting console; responsible for supervising and running all lighting for rehearsals and performances; responsible for lighting equipment inventory; maintains equipment and recommends replacement and purchasing strategies; acts as interface with any visiting lighting related road crew/personnel and/or any other working lighting personnel to communicate and ensure that stage and artist lighting quality is at its optimum during both rehearsal and performance; performs other duties as assigned.

    • Must be skilled in ETC EOS
    • Must be skilled in computers and networking
    • Basic skills in Lightwrite, AutoCAD, Vectorworks preferred
    • Prior Master Electrician experience preferred
    • Positive attitude, sense of humor and understanding while working long hours under pressure at must!
    • This position is part time, hourly and adheres to the California Wage Order 10-2001
    • Part time employment at Irvine Barclay Theatre does not include benefits or paid leave
